Pierre Emerick Aubameyang is all smiles with ex-Liverpool midfielder Nuri Sahin ahead of Tottenham clash
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang was in high spirits as he posed for a selfie with Nuri Sahi ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s trip to the English capital.
The Bundesliga club will face Tottenham Hotspur in the second leg of their Europa League last-16 clash at White Hart Lane on Thursday night.
The Gabon international scored in Dortmund’s emphatic 3-0 first-leg victory over Spurs in Germany last week to underline his growing reputation as one of Europe’s best strikers.
Aubameyang has been linked with a move to the Premier League over the past six months amid reported interest from Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.
And the 26-year-old certainly appeared happy to be heading to England after he posed for a selfie with former Liverpool midfielder Sahin.
Aubameyang wrote on his Instagram page: “On the way to London with THE MEN Sorry the Classic men @nurisahin 😆📸💼✈️ #laclasse #bvb #Aubameyang #pea17”
Tottenham are unbeaten in nine European home games (W7 D2), and have won both of their most recent White Hart Lane Uefa fixtures by three-goal margins.
Valencia’s example from the 2013/14 quarter-finals may be encouraging for Spurs; they lost the away leg of their tie 3-0 at FC Basel 1893, but scored three at home to take the game into extra time, and ended up winning 5-0.
Dortmund’s away record under Thomas Tuchel this season is W4 D1 L1. They have not lost by three goals in Europe since a 3-0 loss at Real Madrid CF in the 2013/14 Champions League quarter-finals.
