Bastian Schweinsteiger is looking forward to Manchester United v Liverpool on Thursday night

Bastian Schweinsteiger has taken to social media to reveal his excitement as Manchester United prepare to host Liverpool in the Europa League on Thursday night.

The Red Devils are looking to overturn a 2-0 first leg deficit and book their place in the quarter-finals of Europe’s second tier club competition.

Schweinsteiger has only recently return to action from a knee injury and was a second half substitute in Sunday’s FA Cup draw with West Ham United.

And the German World Cup winner is clearly looking forward to Thursday’s crunch clash at Old Trafford as he made a vow to Manchester United fans.

Schweinsteiger posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account on Thursday afternoon and wrote: “We’ll give it our very best tonight at Old Trafford! #mufc”

The two sides have met in 166 domestic league games (United 67-55 ahead in terms of wins) and 18 times in various domestic cup competitions (United 11-7 ahead in victories).
