Piers Morgan reacts to Francis Coquelin’s display in Tottenham v Arsenal
Piers Morgan has his say on Francis Coquelin's performance during Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Tottenham
Piers Morgan has taken to social media to criticise Francis Coquelin’s performance after the midfielder was sent off during Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham on Saturday.
Arsenal took the lead in the 39th minute at White Hart Lane when Aaron Ramsey flicked home Hector Bellerin’s low cross.
The Gunners were reduced to 10 men when Coquelin was shown a second yellow card in the 55th minute, and Toby Alderweireld equalised for Spurs minutes later.
Harry Kane’s superb strike then put Tottenham ahead, but Arsenal battled back and earned a point after Alexis Sanchez finished from Bellerin’s through-ball.
Coquelin has come in for plenty of criticism following his unnecessary tackle on Kane that led to his red card.
And Morgan was less than impressed by what he saw from Coquelin at White Hart Lane on Saturday lunchtime.
The Arsenal fan and club shareholder tweeted:
Mentally moribund. #coquelin

Can't fault the effort or fight today, especially after the sending off. Can fault Coquelin's brain. #afc #NLD

The result left Arsenal third in the table and three points behind their bitter rivals heading into the final nine games of the season.
