Ray Parlour tells Arsenal to make this their next signing
Ray Parlour says Arsenal need to target a different sort of player in the summer transfer window
Ray Parlour believes that Arsenal need to sign a “different” kind of player in the summer transfer window to help the team move forwards.
The Gunners have come in for plenty of criticism in recent days in the wake of their 2-1 loss to Swansea City and 3-2 defeat by Manchester United last weekend.
The north London side were booed off the pitch after they were beaten 2-1 by the Swans at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.
And Arsene Wenger’s men do not have long to dust themselves down after that defeat as they turn their attentions towards their north London derby showdown with Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Saturday lunchtime.
With Arsenal struggling to find consistent form, there have inevitably already been questions raised about who the north London club may target during the summer transfer window.
And former Gunners midfielder Parlour feels that Wenger needs to bring in a player who can rally his team-mates through difficult spells.
“I wouldn’t say he [Wenger] has lost the edge but he has to go out and buy a different sort of player,” Parlour said, speaking on the Alan Brazil Up Front podcast.
“Not always a good footballer and good on the ball, he might not be the greatest of players, but [someone who] can get his team-mates playing around him and demand more of the players around him.”
