Rio Ferdinand: This Tottenham star has answered his doubters
Rio Ferdinand heaps praise on Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane
Rio Ferdinand says Harry Kane has answered his doubters this season after his goal in Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.
The England striker put Tottenham 2-1 at White Hart Lane after the 23-year-old beat Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina from an acute angle in the 62nd minute.
Kane has scored 17 times in 29 Premier League appearances after he was initially branded a one-season wonder following a slow start to the 2015/16 season.
Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand heaped praise on the England international following his performance in Saturday’s north London derby.
“It was a ridiculous finish. All day long, you think to yourself Kane is off the boil,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.
“He can turn a game on its head. He proved it last season. Can he do it again? Yes is the answer.”
Kane netted 31 times in 51 appearances in all competitions for Mauricio Pochettino’s side last season.
Tottenham are in second place and five points behind Premier League leaders Leicester City.
Spurs make the trip to Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 clash.
Pochettino’s men face Aston Villa at Villa Park in their next Premier League fixture.
