Rio Ferdinand: What Arsene Wenger needs from Arsenal players
Rio Ferdinand says Arsenal need to find a level of consistency in the remaining games in the Premier League title race
Rio Ferdinand says Arsene Wenger needs consistency from his Arsenal players in their last nine Premier League games in the title race.
The Gunners battled from 2-1 down with 10 men to rescue a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.
Arsenal’s stalemate ended a run of three successive defeats in all competitions following losses to La Liga side Barcelona, bitter rivals Manchester United and Swansea City.
While Arsenal produced a resilient performance against Spurs on Saturday, Ferdinand called on the north London side to find some consistency heading into the final games of the Premier League season.
“He doesn’t know what he is going to get,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.
“He got a very good performance in the derby. The character was shown. But he needs it week in, week out. They are on the home straight now.”
Arsenal are in third place in the Premier League table and eight points behind leaders Leicester City.
The Gunners edged into a first-half lead thanks to Aaron Ramsey’s brilliant opener before Francis Coquelin was sent off in the 55th minute.
Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld levelled against 10-man Arsenal before Harry Kane netted a brilliant strike.
However, Chile international Alexis Sanchez eqalised with 16 minutes remaining in Saturday’s north London derby.
