Rio Ferdinand: What I like about Liverpool
Rio Ferdinand heaps praise on Liverpool's work ethic
Rio Ferdinand has praised Liverpool’s work ethic after Wednesday night’s 3-0 victory over Manchester City.
The Reds managed to exact swift revenge for their League Cup final disappointment on Sunday as Jurgen Klopp’s side were emphatic winners at Anfield.
Adam Lallana broke the deadlock in the 35th minute before former City midfielder James Milner doubled the home side’s lead ahead of half-time.
Roberto Firmino endured a quiet performance in his first appearance at Wembley but the 24-year-old forward scored Liverpool’s third to seal three points for Klopp’s side.
Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand was particularly impressed with Liverpool’s collective effort to win back the ball against the Citizens.
”What I liked about Liverpool was that it wasn’t one man hunting the ball,” Ferdinand told BT Sport. ”They were hunting in packs.
”It makes a big difference when you go out there to give 100 per cent and no-one is behind you or with you. Liverpool had three or four bodies around the ball every time.”
Liverpool are in eighth place in the Premier League table and six points behind fourth-placed City following Wednesday night’s victory.
