Rio Ferdinand: Why Jurgen Klopp should be worried about Liverpool
Rio Ferdinand says Jurgen Klopp needs to oversee a complete overhaul of the Liverpool squad
Rio Ferdinand says Jurgen Klopp should be worried about the lack of quality in his Liverpool squad.
The Reds were 3-0 winners against Manchester City in the Premier League on Wednesday night thanks to goals from Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson.
However, Liverpool are languishing in seventh place in the Premier League table and six points adrift of fourth-placed City ahead of Sunday’s trip to Crystal Palace.
Klopp took over the reins at Liverpool earlier in the season after Brendan Rodgers oversaw a poor start to the 2015/16 season.
Speaking to BT Sport ahead of Wednesday night’s game at Anfield, Ferdinand explained what is the biggest problem with Liverpool’s squad.
“I’d love to come here and play against this Liverpool team. There is no real threat,” Ferdinand said.
“There is nothing that puts you on the back foot at all. If I was Jurgen Klopp, I’d be a worried man. I’d be thinking roll on to the next window.”
Ferdinand added that Klopp should look to oversee a complete overhaul of the Liverpool squad in the summer transfer window.
“The whole lot. Potentially, he could do the whole lot,” added Ferdinand.
The Reds lost to City on penalties in Sunday’s League Cup final at Wembley.
