Robbie Savage: Liverpool better than Man United at their peak
Robbie Savage says Manchester United are a woeful side
Robbie Savage says Liverpool are a better side than Manchester United when both Premier League clubs are playing at their peak.
Liverpool eased to a 2-0 victory over the Red Devils in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 clash on Thursday night.
Daniel Sturridge made the breakthrough from the penalty spot after Nathaniel Clyne was brought down by Netherlands winger Memphis Depay.
Brazil international Roberto Firmino doubled the home side’s lead to give the Reds a 2-0 aggregate lead ahead of their return trip to Old Trafford next Thursday.
Liverpool have won four of their last five games in all competitions, scoring 13 goals in victories over Aston Villa, Manchester City, Crystal Palace and United.
Former United midfielder Savage described Louis van Gaal’s current outfit as a woeful side ahead of the second leg of their Europa League last-16 clash on Thursday night.
“That Man United team is woeful,” Savage told BT Sport.
“If Liverpool play at their peak and Man United play at their peak, there is only one winner: Liverpool.”
