Roberto Firmino: Why Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is the best
Roberto Firmino talks up Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp
Roberto Firmino has hailed Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp as his best manager of his career.
The Brazil international was signed by Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers in a £29m deal from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim in the summer transfer window.
The former Borussia Dormund manager replaced Rodgers in October after a disappointing start to the Premier League season for the Reds.
Klopp’s appointment has triggered an impressive run of form for Firmino after the playmaker scored eight times in his last 13 games in all competitions.
Speaking to Liverpool’s magazine earlier in March, Firmino explained why Klopp is such a great manager.
“[He’s] the best manager I’ve worked with,” Firmino said.
“I don’t say that because he picks me all of the time. It’s because of his mentality and personality.
“He gives confidence to all of the players. He knows what your potential is, so he always says just one or two words to give you confidence and show trust.
“That’s important for players. I think everybody likes working with him and we are all improving because of him.”
Firmino scored Liverpool’s second goal in a 2-0 victory over Manchester United in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 clash on Thursday night.
