Sol Campbell reacts to Arsene Wenger Arsenal exit talk
Sol Campbell has his say on Arsene Wenger's future at Arsenal
Sol Campbell has told Arsenal that they should stick with Arsene Wenger and rejected talk of the Gunners sacking their manager before the end of the season.
The Frenchman has found himself under significant pressure in recent weeks following Arsenal’s poor run of form.
Arsenal are without a win in all competitions since their 2-1 victory over Leicester last month and have suffered defeats by the likes of Manchester United and Swansea City in recent weeks.
The north London side played out a 2-2 draw with Tottenham in Saturday’s derby clash at White Hart Lane.
There have been calls from some Arsenal fans for the club to bring Wenger’s reign at The Emirates to an end.
However, former Arsenal defender Campbell has stuck up for his former manager, despite the Gunners’ poor form.
Writing in his blog for Sportlobster, Campbell said: “I don’t agree with the ‘Arsene Out’ noises we’ve been hearing this week. There’s only two months of the season remaining and Arsenal still have it all to play for.
“The Premier League title is still within reach and the situation calls for calm… I think the Barcelona game is key now. Even if they lose and go out, it’s how they lose that will show what this side is all about. They need to show fight, spirit, togetherness and be prepared to gamble.
“Personally, I don’t think they can go through but you never know. Win or lose, how they approach that game could help define the rest of their season. Taking a point at White Hart Lane with ten men could be the beginning of that process to getting back on track.”
