Sol Campbell: Why Arsenal are still bigger than Tottenham
Sol Campbell runs the rule over Arsenal and Tottenham ahead of Saturday's north London derby
Sol Campbell insists Arsenal are still the biggest club in north London ahead of Saturday’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are three points ahead of third-placed Arsenal despite their first defeat in six Premier League games at West Ham United on Wednesday night.
The Gunners failed to capitalise on Tottenham’s slip up as Arsene Wenger’s side lost 2-1 to Premier League strugglers Swansea City at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal and Tottenham played out a 1-1 draw in the derby at The Emirates earlier this season after Kieran Gibbs cancelled out Harry Kane’s opener.
Campbell, who played for both north London clubs, explained why Arsenal still have the edge on Tottenham.
“If you’re looking at quality then Arsenal’s quality of football has been superior,” said Campbell, speaking exclusively to 888sport.
“You have to look at it over five to ten years to see how consistent they are and Tottenham have really come into their own this season. They have improved but let’s see after five seasons.”
Arsenal have lost their last three games in all competitions following defeats by Barcelona, Manchester United and Swansea.
Tottenham had won six Premier League games on the bounce before a 1-0 defeat by West Ham on Wednesday night.
