Michael Owen states his prediction for Southampton v Liverpool
Michael Owen looks ahead to Liverpool's trip to Southampton on Sunday in the Premier League
Michael Owen is tipping Liverpool to get at least a point from their trip to Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds head into the game looking to return to Premier League action for the first time since their 2-1 win over Crystal Palace back on 6 March.
Liverpool were in Europa League action against Manchester United on Thursday night and are bidding to make it four wins in a row in the Premier League.
The Merseyside outfit head to St Mary’s in eighth place in the Premier League table and seven points adrift of the top four.
And former Liverpool striker Owen is expecting to see Jurgen Klopp’s men get at least a draw in what looks set to be an entertaining game on the south coast.
Writing in his column for Bet Victor, Owen said: “Southampton and Liverpool should put on a terrific game for the neutrals at St Mary’s with both sides likely to play open free-flowing attacking football.
“It will be fascinating to see what changes Reds boss Jurgen Klopp makes from their Europa League tie at Old Trafford in midweek, but their squad should be able to deal with demands of playing twice in a week and leave with a share of the spoils.”
Liverpool finished sixth under Brendan Rodgers last season, before the Northern Irishman was sacked in October.
