Stan Collymore delivers damning verdict on Louis van Gaal and Man United
Stan Collymore delivers a scathing assessment of Louis van Gaal's second season in charge at Manchester United
Stan Collymore has hit out at Louis van Gaal’s “philosophy”, claiming that the Manchester United midfielder has been relying on rookies at Old Trafford after blowing hundreds of millions of pounds in the transfer market.
The Red Devils boss has found himself under constant scrutiny this season following the club’s stuttering form throughout the campaign.
Van Gaal has brought through the likes of Marcus Rashford and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson this season following injuries to a number of key first-team players at Old Trafford.
However, former Liverpool man Collymore feels that the Dutchman has failed to deliver on the “philosophy” he spoke about after being appointed by the Red Devils back in the summer of 2014.
Writing in his column for Boylesports, Collymore said: “Manchester United, our global juggernaut, will be giving serious thought to keeping a manager who’s wasted £250m, yet relies on a couple of rookies to move his “philosophy” forward.”
United returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 1-0 win over Manchester City at Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon thanks to Rashford’s first-half goal.
