Steve McManaman issues Liverpool warning ahead of Palace trip
Steve McManaman warns Liverpool that they can't get complacent ahead of Sunday's game at Crystal Palace
Steve McManaman says the big concern for Liverpool is that Jurgen Klopp’s side will roll over at Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The Reds secured a brilliant 3-0 win against League Cup winners Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.
If they go and win comfortable then we’ll say Liverpool are on a bit of a roll now
England midfielder Adam Lallana broke the deadlock in the 35th minute before James Milner doubled the home side’s lead five minutes later.
Liverpool lost to City on penalties in the Capital One Cup showpiece at Wembley on Sunday, but Roberto Firmino sealed a 3-0 win in the league with a close-range finish in the second half.
However, former Reds skipper McManaman was refusing to get carried away with the result ahead of Sunday’s trip to Alan Pardew’s struggling Crystal Palace side.
“That’s the big concern [lack of consistency] for everybody,” McManaman told BT Sport.
“They’ve got Crystal Palace away at the weekend. Teams where Liverpool should be going aftr a performance like this and getting a good result. But we’ve seen it too often that they’ve gone and laid down and a team like Palace have overrun them.
“If they go and win comfortably then we’ll say Liverpool are on a bit of a roll now.”
Liverpool are in eighth place in the Premier League table and six points behind fourth-placed City in the race to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League.
