Thierry Henry: My thoughts on Arsenal starlet Alex Iwobi
Thierry Henry gushes with praise for Alex Iwobi after his recent impressive performances for Arsenal
Thierry Henry has heaped praise on Alex Iwobi following the Arsenal youngster’s impressive week for the Gunners.
The 19-year-old followed up his assured performance against Barcelona in the Champions League last week with a man of the match display in the north London side’s 2-0 win at Everton on Saturday.
Iwobi scored Arsenal’s second goal with a cool finish after Danny Welbeck’s openar at Goodison Park.
The teenager has earned plenty of new admirers for his fearless performances for the Gunners in recent days.
And Henry feels that Iwobi is the perfect example of how a young player should approach the game if he is to make it at the top level.
Writing in his column for The Sun, Henry said: “Alex wasn’t scared against the best team in the world in the Nou Camp.
“He was brave on the ball, calm in and around the penalty area and justified all the work invested in him by the academy.
“He is the perfect example of how a kid has to behave to make it to the top. He works hard, he listens and he is always on time.
“He has blossomed since breaking into the seniors and his goal and brilliant display against Everton underlined his potential.”
