Thierry Henry reacts to Liverpool’s 2-1 win at Crystal Palace
Thierry Henry has his say after 10-man Liverpool seal a dramatic 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park
Thierry Henry insisted that Liverpool were fully deserving of the three points after Christian Benteke’s penalty earned the Reds a dramatic 2-1 win at Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.
After a goalless first half, the home side took the lead in the 48th minute thanks to Joe Ledley’s finish.
Liverpool were then reduced to 10 men when James Milner was shown a second yellow card in the 62nd minute at Selhurst Park.
However, the Reds drew level when Roberto Firmino slotted home in the 72nd minute after a mistake by Palace goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.
And the visitors secured all three points when substitute Benteke coolly slotted home his penalty after he went down under a challenge by Damien Delaney in the box.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Henry said: “I don’t really think Palace deserved more. They knew what was coming and in the second half actually Liverpool played way better with 10 men.
“Palace became a bit timid, fragile, lethargic. They were a bit passive at times and Liverpool deserved to win the game.
“I thought that in the last 30 minutes, Liverpool controlled the game with 10 men.”
