Thierry Henry admits that Saturday’s showdown between Tottenham and Arsenal is the most important north London derby that he can remember.

The Gunners head to White Hart Lane looking to bounce back from their run of three straight defeats in all competitions and reignite their title hopes with victory over their bitter local rivals.

Spurs are also aiming to return to winning ways after they were beaten 1-0 by West Ham United at Upton Park in midweek.

The Lilywhites know that a victory over Arsene Wenger’s men would move them six points clear of their neighbours heading into the final nine games of the season.

Arsenal, meanwhile, will be aiming for a win which would move them level on points with Spurs.

And former Arsenal striker Henry has talked up the importance of Saturday lunchtime’s showdown in north London.

Writing in his column for The Sun, Henry said: “Tomorrow’s meeting at the Lane is probably the biggest north London derby I have ever known.

“This is the first time I can ever remember Tottenham being in this situation of challenging for the title at this stage of the season.”

He continued: “White Hart Lane will be absolutely rocking tomorrow and I will be intrigued to see how both teams handle the atmosphere.

“I will not be there personally. I only go to Tottenham when I am working.

“But I will be watching on TV and what I want to see is a really strong response from the Arsenal players to get the fans back on their side.

“We all know the quality is there but confidence is not high and that was obvious at Old Trafford last Sunday and again on Wednesday night.”
