Paul Merson is tipping Tottenham to bounce back to winning ways by securing a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

The north London side were dumped out of Europe by Borussia Dortmund on Thursday night as the German side secured a 2-1 victory at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham are being touted as serious contenders to win the Premier League title this season and are currently second in the table and five points behind leaders Leicester heading into this weekend’s round of fixtures.

And former Arsenal man Merson is expecting to see Spurs keep their title bid on track with victory over the Cherries at White Hart Lane this weekend.

Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Merson said: “Bournemouth are safe now. I always find the teams that are safe are a dangerous proposition because they go out and express themselves.

“However, if the result goes the way I expect between Crystal Palace and Leicester then Tottenham will have a chance to go just two points behind the league leaders.

“In my opinion they would not let that chance slip so I’m backing them for a 2-1 victory at White Hart Lane. However, Mauricio Pochettino’s side will have to be wary. Bournemouth will give Spurs a very tricky game.”
