Paul Merson states prediction for West Brom v Man United
Paul Merson says Manchester United have turned a corner ahead of West Brom clash
Paul Merson believes Manchester United are on a roll and will beat West Brom at The Hawthorns on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils have won their last four games in all competitions thanks to victories over Shrewsbury Town, FC Midtjylland, Arsenal and Watford over the past 11 days.
I am going to for Man United 2-1 as I think they are rolling now
Juan Mata scored a late winner against the Hornets to seal a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford and move United level on points with fourth-placed Manchester City.
Louis van Gaal’s side make the trip to bitter rivals Liverpool for the first leg of their Europa League last-16 tie at Anfield next Thursday.
Former Arsenal playmaker Merson believes United will warm up for their first meeting with Liverpool in Europe by securing a comfortable win against West Brom on Sunday afternoon.
“Man United have turned the corner and sometimes you just need a little bit of luck,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“I thought they were lucky against Watford, who had a couple of chances and probably two months ago they would have scored and come away with a 2-0 win and everybody would have been booing. But they score in the last five minutes and everybody goes home happy, they are on a roll.
“Man City have just opened up the possibility of Champions League qualification for everybody, so instead of Liverpool and Man United looking forward to the Europa League on Thursday, these are now bigger football matches. And if you had said that three weeks ago, I would have said: ‘No chance.’
“But I am going to for Man United 2-1 as I think they are rolling now.”
United were 3-2 winners against Arsenal at Old Trafford in the Premier League last weekend before their mid-week 1-0 victory over Watford.
