Zinedine Zidane has underlined his desire to keep Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United.

The Portugal international has been linked with a move away from Bernabeu at the end of the season after a difficult season for the 31-year-old forward.

Ronaldo’s former employers United have been linked with a move for the three-time Ballon d’Or winner in the summer transfer window just over six years since the forward moved to Los Blancos in an £80m deal.

However, Madrid manager Zidane has reiterated that he wants the Portuguese star to stay in the Spanish capital beyond the summer transfer window.

“I am the coach and I want him,” Zidane told his pre-match media conference ahead of Madrid’s clash against Roma.

Ronaldo has scored 27 times and has made nine assists in 28 La Liga games so far this season.

The Madrid star won three Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup and two League Cups during his six-year United career.
