Alex Iwobi: This Arsenal player is an inspiration to me
Alex Iwobi heaps praise on Jack Wilshere and describes the Arsenal midfielder as an inspiration for him
Alex Iwobi has heaped praise on Jack Wilshere after the Arsenal midfielder made his first appearance of the season for the north London club last weekend.
Wilshere has been out injured for the whole of the campaign after undergoing surgery on a broken leg earlier in the campaign in what was the latest in a long line of injury setbacks for the England international.
The midfielder is rated as one of England’s most promising midfield talents and is tipped to be a key player for club and country if he can put his injury struggles behind him.
And Iwobi, who himself has earned plenty of new admirers since breaking into the Arsenal first-team in recent weeks, has revealed that he is a huge fan of Wilshere.
Speaking to Arsenal’s website, Iwobi said: “He’s brilliant on the ball, he’s able to find space and he’s the master of the no-touch turn.
“He doesn’t even need to touch the ball, he just shields it with his body and turns away from defenders with ease. It’s something that us youth team players used to watch and then try in training.
“He’s a big inspiration for us. A couple of times in training we used to get together and practise the ‘Jack Wilshere turn’, but nobody can do it as well as he can!”
Both Iwobi and Wilshere will be hoping to feature when Arsenal return to Premier League action with a home clash against Norwich City on Saturday.
