Gary Lineker tweets awkward verdict on Liverpool’s ‘exceptional’ defender
Gary Lineker heaps praise on Liverpool centre-half Mamadou Sakho
Gary Lineker has hailed Liverpool star Mamadou Sakho as an awkward but exceptional defender.
The Reds centre-half was one of Jurgen Klopp’s key players on Thursday night as the Merseyside outfit secured a 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final.
Sakho finished with a 100 per cent tackle success rate, the France international made four clearance and two interceptions.
The 26-year-old finished the Europa League clash as captain after Jordan Henderson was forced off at half-time with knee ligament damage.
Former England and Tottenham Hotspur legend Lineker singled out Sakho for praise after another impressive performance in Europe.
Sakho may look awkward and always on the brink of stumbling over the ball, but he's an exceptional defender. #DorLiv

Sakho moved to Liverpool in a £16m deal from Paris Saint-Germain in 2014.
The Reds are in action against Stoke City in their next Premier League game on Sunday afternoon.
Liverpool will host Bundesliga side Dortmund in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final at Anfield next Thursday.
