Jamie Carragher reacts to Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Man United

Jamie Carragher has his say after Tottenham's 3-0 win over Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday

Jamie Carragher admitted that he would find it unlikely to see Louis van Gaal in charge of Manchester United next season if the Red Devils miss out on a top-four finish after their 3-0 loss at Tottenham.

After a goalless first half at White Hart Lane, goals from Dele Alli, Toby Alderweireld and Erik Lamela handed the Lilywhites a convincing victory over the Red Devils.

The result dealt a significant blow to Manchester United’s hopes of finishing in the top four next season and left them fifth in the table, four points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City.

And former Liverpool defender Carragher reckons that Van Gaal will leave Old Trafford over the summer if he fails to guide United to Champions League qualification.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Carragher said: “Of course it’s a massive blow – they got into the Champions League last year.

“The fact that they did it last year and they could miss out this year, it looks like they’re going backwards under Louis van Gaal.

“I don’t see him at the club next year if they don’t get into the top four. It’s maybe debatable if they do.”
