Ander Herrera’s message for Man United fans after Louis van Gaal’s sacking

Ander Herrera discusses the importance of Manchester United's FA Cup final win on Saturday

Ander Herrera has insisted that Manchester United will challenge for silverware on all fronts next season after the Red Devils won the FA Cup on Saturday.

United came from a goal down to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 after extra time at Wembley in what ended up being Louis van Gaal’s final game in charge of the Red Devils.

Jose Mourinho is set to take over as Van Gaal’s successor after the Dutchman was given his marching orders by the club on Monday after two seasons in charge at Old Trafford.

The 26-year-old Spaniard scored four goals and made two assists in all competitions for the Red Devils last season.

And he is sure that Saturday’s FA Cup triumph will help to inspire United to challenge for more silverware next season.

Speaking to United’s website after the FA Cup final, Herrera said: “We always believe we can win trophies.

“Even in the transition moments or not the best moments for the club, United can always win a trophy. Normally at other clubs when this happens you can’t win things, but United is a special club and we can do it.

“We are creating a very good team with a mix of young and experienced players.

“I am a team player and I can learn a lot from everyone and, as I said before, when you win a trophy everything is easier because you can build from that and the confidence is bigger. We are all very happy.”
