Ander Herrera’s message for Man United fans ahead of FA Cup final

Ander Herrera looks ahead to the FA Cup final clash between Manchester United and Crystal Palace

Ander Herrera has talked up the importance of Manchester United’s FA Cup final clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday, insisting that victory would be a stepping stone to helping the club move back to the pinnacle of English football.

The Red Devils head into the game looking to bounce back from what has been a disappointing season for Louis van Gaal’s men.

United ended up missing out on a place in next season’s Champions League as they were pipped to a top-four finish by local rivals Manchester City.

Van Gaal is now looking to steer his side to their first trophy since the Dutchman’s appointment as manager back in 2014.

And Spanish midfielder Herrera has underlined the importance of Saturday’s game at Wembley as the Red Devils prepare for their clash against Alan Pardew’s men.

Speaking to United’s website, Herrera said: “It hasn’t been an easy season and we have had tough moments but we have to be together and laugh together because it’s the best way to achieve things. And we know we have a massive number of fans behind us. The support is great and 100 per cent.

“What I want to say is this club has something special. Even in transitional moments, or when we’re not in the best moment of this club, we can get a trophy.

“It’s one of the most important trophies in the world, the first competition ever, and that means this club has something special. We can get the trophy and build from this trophy. We have to fight for it.

“If we want to be the best Manchester United again, the best way to do it is winning this trophy. It would be fantastic.”
