Arsenal reveal Alexis Sanchez’s new shirt number after 2016/17 kit launch

Alexis Sanchez will be the new owner of the No7 Arsenal shirt

Alexis Sanchez has been handed the number seven shirt after Arsenal revealed their new Puma home kit for the 2016/17 season on Monday morning.

The Chile international will replace Tomas Rosicky in the prestigious No7 shirt for the Gunners ahead of the Czech Republic midfielder’s departure this summer.

Sanchez was given the No17 shirt following his £35m move to the Emirates Stadium from La Liga giants Barcelona in 2014 after the South American opted to join Arsenal ahead of Liverpool.

The 27-year-old will follow in the footsteps of Arsenal and Republic of Ireland great Liam Brady and World Cup winner Robert Pires.

Sanchez has scored 26 goals in 59 Premier League games for the north London side after two seasons at The Emirates.

The former Udinese forward won his first trophy with the Gunners last season after a 4-0 victory over Aston Villa in the FA Cup final.
