Arsenal to rival Man United for £20m Bundesliga defender – report

Arsenal want to sign Manchester United defender Ricardo Rodriguez, according to Daily Star

Arsenal have entered the race to sign Wolfsburg defender Ricardo Rodriguez, according to Daily Star.

Arsene Wenger completed his first signing of the summer transfer window earlier this week after the Gunners completed a £33m deal for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka.

However, Arsenal are thought to be interested in Xhaka’s international team-mate Rodriguez as Wenger looks to strengthen his defensive options at The Emirates.

According to Daily Star, the Gunners are ready to rival Manchester United for the 23-year-old defender in the summer transfer window.

Rodriguez scored two goals and made three assists in 24 Bundesliga appearances for Wolfsburg in the 2015/16 season.

The Swiss defender, who has a reputation as a set-piece expert for the German club, moved to the Bundesliga club from FC Zurich in 2012.
