Arsenal to sign £37.8m Argentina striker after Danny Welbeck blow – report
Arsenal are ready to reignite their interest in Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain, according to London Evening Standard
Arsenal are ready to finally sign Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain after Danny Welbeck’s injury setback, according to the London Evening Standard.
The England international is set to be sidelined for up to nine months after Welbeck was forced to undergo a knee operation following a serious injury during last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City at The Etihad.
The Gunners were heavily linked with a move for Higuain in 2013 before Arsene Wenger spent a club-record £42.5m fee on the Argentine striker’s former Real Madrid team-mate Mesut Ozil that August.
According to the London Evening Standard, Arsenal are ready to reignite their interest in the 28-year-old striker as Wenger eyes a replacement for Welbeck after the England man’s injury setback.
Higuain has scored a staggering 33 times in 34 Serie A appearances for Napoli this season. The Argentina international has netted 88 times in 148 games in all competitions for the Naples outfit since his move in 2013.
