Mark Lawrenson states prediction for Arsenal v Aston Villa
Mark Lawrenson predicts the outcome of Arsenal's home clash against Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon
Mark Lawrenson is backing Arsenal to ease to a landslide victory over Aston Villa in the final game of the Premier League season at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners have endured a disappointing Premier League campaign after failing to keep pace with Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur in the title race.
Arsenal are currently 13 points behind the newly-crowned Premier League champions ahead of the visit of Villa on Sunday afternoon.
However, Arsene Wenger’s side can hoist themselves above Tottenham and into second place if their north London rivals should suffer a setback at Newcastle United.
And former Liverpool defender and Republic of Ireland international Lawrenson expects Arsenal to win by at least three goals against relegated Villa.
“The biggest decision I’ve got here is whether Arsenal will win 3-0 or 4-0,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“There is very little new to say about Aston Villa, who were relegated on 16 April and have been bottom of the table since the end of October.”
Arsenal made premature exits in the Champions League and the FA Cup this season to finish without any silverware.
The Gunners suffered a 5-1 aggregate defeat by La Liga giants Barcelona in the round of last 16.
Wenger’s side lost 2-1 to Watford in the FA Cup quarter-final at The Emirates.
