Arsene Wenger delivers latest Arsenal injury update ahead of Aston Villa clash
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger delivers an update on midfielder Jack Wilshere
Arsene Wenger says he hasn’t decided whether to start Jack Wilshere for Arsenal’s final Premier League game of the season against Aston Villa at The Emirates on Sunday.
The England international made his return to competitive action as a second-half substitute in Arsenal’s goalless draw with Sunderland at the end of April.
Wilshere was called upon to play the last 65 minutes of the Gunners’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City last weekend after Danny Welbeck suffered a knee injury at The Etihad.
The 24-year-old has only made two Premier League appearances after the former Bolton Wanderers midfielder suffered a foot injury ahead of the start of the season.
Arsenal manager Wenger was tight-lipped on the possibility of Wilshere making his starting XI for the first time this season against Villa on Sunday.
“He can start. I haven’t decided yet, but I consider him ready to play,” Wenger to his pre-match media conference on Friday morning.
Arsenal are in third place in the Premier League table and two points behind their north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
The Gunners twice came from a goal down to secure a 2-2 draw with top-four rivals Manchester City last weekend.
