Bayern defender’s three-word response when asked to join Liverpool by Jamie Carragher
Jamie Carragher asks Philipp Lahm about a move to Liverpool from Bayern Munich
Philipp Lahm has turned down the chance to move to Liverpool after Jamie Carragher quizzed the Bayern Munich defender over a potential move to Anfield.
The Reds were left disappointed in Wednesday night’s Europa League final after a 3-1 defeat by reigning champions Sevilla in Basel.
Jurgen Klopp’s left-back Alberto Moreno was heavily criticised for a poor performance in Liverpool’s Europa League final defeat.
Lahm, 32, has been ever-present for the Bundesliga champions since emerging as one of the world’s most-exciting defenders in the early 00s.
When Carragher met the Bayern captain for an interview with the Daily Mail, the Liverpool legend couldn’t resist quizzing Lahm over a potential move to Anfield.
However, the two-time Champions League winner was emphatic in his response to Carragher’s hopeful question about a shock switch to Anfield this summer: “Not this time!”
Lahm added: “The atmosphere is incredible and Xabi Alonso has told me about the fantastic atmosphere at Liverpool but I’m going nowhere.”
Lahm scored one goal and made one assist in 26 Bundesliga appearances in Pep Guardiola’s title-winning campaign.
