Chelsea set to face Napoli competition for £65m striker – report
Chelsea will have to beat off competition from Napoli to sign Romelu Lukaku, according to reports in Italy
Chelsea will face competition from Napoli for the signature of Romelu Lukaku this summer, according to reports in Italy.
The Everton striker is being widely-tipped to leave Goodison Park in the summer transfer window after a disappointing season for the Toffees.
Lukaku scored 18 times in 37 Premier League games but the Merseyside outfit still managed to finish in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
The Blues sold the Belgium international to Everton in a £27m deal in 2014 after Jose Mourinho deemed the striker surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.
However, incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is thought to be interested in re-signing the 22-year-old forward from the Toffees this summer.
According to Gazzetto dello Sport as quoted by Football Italia, Napoli are also monitoring Lukaku’s situation ahead of Higuain’s potential departure this summer.
The Argentina striker scored 36 times in 35 Serie A games for the runners-up last term.
