Chelsea to rival Liverpool for £20m-rated World Cup winner – report
Chelsea will attempt to land Mario Gotze ahead of Liverpool with the help of Carlo Ancelotti, according to The Sun
Chelsea have been given the all clear to sign Mario Gotze by incoming Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti, according to The Sun.
Liverpool were thought to be on the brink of signing the 23-year-old after reports emerged that the playmaker has been asking about life in Merseyside.
Gotze previously played under current Reds manager Jurgen Klopp during their time together at Borussia Dortmund before the forward controversially joined Bayern in 2013.
But the Germany international has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot under Pep Guardiola this season and the Spaniard’s successor doesn’t view Gotze as part of his plans, either.
However, according to The Sun, Ancelotti is ready to help his former employers pip their Premier League rivals to the signing of the World Cup winner.
Chelsea have previously beaten Liverpool to the signing of Willian after ex-Reds manager Brendan Rodgers attempted to lure the Brazilian to Anfield before he moved to Stamford Bridge.
