Danny Higginbotham has backed Jose Mourinho to bring the “fear factor” back to Old Trafford after the Portuguese coach was finally appointed as Manchester United manager on Friday.

Mourinho has signed a three-year contract with the Red Devils and has the option to extend his deal until at least 2020.

United moved quickly to appoint Mourinho as their new manager after the Red Devils sacked Louis van Gaal on Monday following the club’s fifth-placed finish in the Premier League and FA Cup win.

And former defender Higginbotham is backing the former Chelsea manager to be a big hit at Old Trafford.

Higginbotham tweeted after the appointment:

Mourinho has been out of work since his sacking by Chelsea back in December after the west London club’s disastrous start to the Premier League season.
