Former Gunners defender delivers vedict on Twitter to new Arsenal signing

Johan Djourou runs the rule over new Arsenal signing Granit Xhaka

Johan Djourou has issued his backing for Arsenal’s new signing Granit Xhaka.

Arsene Wenger signed the Switzerland international in a £33m deal from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday afternoon.

Xhaka has put pen to paper on a five-year deal as he becomes Wenger’s first signing of the summer transfer window as Arsenal look to improve their squad.

Djourou, who is a team-mate of Xhaka in the Switzerland squad, spent nine seasons at the Emirates Stadium before he eventually quit in 2014.

And the 29-year-old defender is a big fan of Arsenal’s £33m signing, taking to Twitter to give Gunners supporters an idea of the type of player that Wenger has signed.

Arsenal finished the season in second place in the Premier League table after a 4-0 victory over Aston Villa on the final day of the season.
