Harry Redknapp makes massive claim about Arsenal and Tottenham

Harry Redknapp believes Arsenal aren't anywhere near Tottenham

Harry Redknapp has claimed that Arsenal aren’t anywhere near Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the 2016/17 season.

The Gunners managed to hoist themselves above Tottenham and into second place on the final day of the Premier League season.

Tottenham needed just a point at St James’s Park but the former title contenders suffered a humiliating 5-1 defeat by Newcastle United.

Arsenal, meanwhile, secured second place thanks to a 4-0 victory over relegated Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium.

Former Tottenham manager Redknapp believes Spurs have a far superior squad than Arsenal despite the Gunners finishing above their north London rivals.

“Arsene Wenger deserves enormous credit for finishing above Tottenham Hotspur in the league, but I know which squad I would rather have,” Redknapp told The Telegraph.

“Being brutally honest, Arsenal are very lucky to have finished the season second and Arsene needs to buy some players over the summer to get anywhere near Spurs.

“He has been criticised by supporters and pundits for much of the season, but to finish second should end the debate over his future.”

Tottenham were title contenders up until early May when a 2-2 draw with London side Chelsea handed the Premier League crown to Leicester City.

Spurs failed to win any of their last four Premier League games against West Brom, Chelsea, Southampton and Newcastle.
