Jamie Carragher delivers blunt verdict on reported £50m Man United target
Jamie Carragher delivers ruthless verdict on Everton striker Romelu Lukaku
Jamie Carragher has criticised Romelu Lukaku’s latest Everton performance amid continued speculation linking the striker with a move to Manchester United.
The Toffes striker had one shot on target on Wednesday night as Sunderland were 3-0 winners against Roberto Martinez’s hapless side at Stadium of Light.
Lukaku has been one of the only positives to come from a disastrous 2015/16 season for the Merseyside outfit after a return of 18 goals in 36 Premier League games.
However, the 22-year-old has been unable to prevent Everton slumping to four defeats in their last five games, failing to score in his last nine appearances.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher wasn’t very impressed with Lukaku’s performance against the Black Cats in the wake of Niall Quinn’s praise for the Sunderland defence.
“Lukaku kept himself quiet. Jesus Christ,” Carragher told Sky Sports. “Everton never looked like scoring.”
Lukaku has been linked with a £50m switch to the Red Devils in recent months.
The Belgian forward moved to Everton in a £27m deal from Chelsea in 2014.
