Jamie Carragher makes bold prediction about Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool transfers
Jamie Carragher runs the rule over Jurgen Klopp's impact at Liverpool
Jamie Carragher believes Loris Karius is just the first of many Liverpool signings for Jurgen Klopp’s new-look side this summer.
The 48-year-old took over the reins from Brendan Rodgers in October following the Reds’s 1-1 draw with Everton in the Merseyside derby.
He has already signed a goalkeeper [Loris Karius] and I am sure that is the first of many
While Klopp enjoyed some memorable victories on the road at Chelsea and Manchester City, Liverpool still finished in eighth place in the Premier League table.
The Reds also lost 3-1 to reigning champions Sevilla in the Europa League final despite leading 1-0 at half-time in Basel thanks to Daniel Sturridge’s opener.
However, former Liverpool defender Carragher is excited about the Reds’s potential under Klopp ahead of the German’s first full season in charge at Anfield.
“We have seen the impact he has brought to the club, two cup finals in his first season after less than a year there – and that is with Brendan Rodgers’ team,” Carragher told talkSPORT.
“I’m sure there are things he wants to change and the great thing about coming in mid-season as a manager is it gives you that time to assess the players, rather than coming in over the summer and making rash decisions.
“I’m sure over the last six months he has assessed everyone and now is making his moves in the transfer market. He has already signed a goalkeeper [Loris Karius] and I am sure that is the first of many.”
Liverpool lost to Manchester City on penalties in the League Cup final at Wembley after coming from behind to force extra time at the home of English football.
The Reds led 1-0 in Basel thanks to Sturridge’s brilliant goal before Kevin Gameiro and Coke’s brace sealed a 3-1 win for Sevilla.
