Jamie Carragher believes that Manchester United could be set to make three or four top signings in the summer transfer window.

Jose Mourinho is set to take charge at Old Trafford, with the Portuguese coach picked as the man to restore United to the top of English football.

The Red Devils opted to sack Louis van Gaal on Monday after the Red Devils finished fifth and won the FA Cup last season.

Attentions will now inevitably turn towards the summer transfer window and Mourinho’s plans to strengthen his squad at Old Trafford ahead of his first season in charge.

And former Liverpool defender Carragher feels that the Red Devils could be poised to bring in three or four players during the off-season.

Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Thursday afternoon, Carragher said: “For United, it’s never as bad as it seems.

“They were close to a top-four spot and won the FA Cup. They are not that far away.

“Two or three top players can make a massive difference At Chelsea, Mourinho brought in Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa and he took the team to another level.

“Three or four additions would put them well on the way.”
