Jose Mourinho delivers latest Man United update on speculation
The former Chelsea manager discusses reports linking him with the Manchester United job
Jose Mourinho says he knows nothing about his chances of taking over at Manchester United in the summer.
The axed Chelsea manager has been heavily linked with Louis van Gaal’s position at Old Trafford after a disappointing season for the Red Devils.
United’s 3-2 defeat by West Ham on Tuesday night means Van Gaal is relying on Manchester City to slip up against Swansea City on Sunday to secure a top-four spot.
Mourinho hasn’t returned to management since the 52-year-old was sacked by Chelsea in December following a disastrous start to the defence of the Premier League crown.
Asked about reports linking Mourinho with the United job, the former Inter Milan and Real Madrid manager refused to shed any light on the speculation:
“I don’t know. I know nothing about it really. I don’t have a club.”
“In July, I will be back. So we are in May. May to July is nothing. I keep enjoying my life which I’m doing, keep enjoying my family. But in July I am back,” Mourinho is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
The Red Devils will host Bournemouth in their final game of the Premier League season at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
United will take on Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace side in the FA Cup final at Wembley later this month.
