Liverpool chasing £11m Premier League striker wanted by Leicester- report

Liverpool will compete with Leicester City for the signing of Shane Long, according to Daily Mirror

Liverpool are set to do battle with Leicester City for Southampton striker Shane Long this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Reds are thought to be keen to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2016/17 season, with £32.5m signing Christian Benteke facing an uncertain future at the Merseyside club.

Long was one of the Premier League’s form striker in the second half of the season and established himself as a Saints regular under Ronald Koeman thanks to a return of 10 goals in 28 Premier League games.

According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool are set to rival Premier League champions Leicester City for the striker’s signature in the summer transfer window.

Long has previously played in the Premier League for Reading and Hull City before his move to Southampton in 2014.

Liverpool finished in eighth place in the Premier League table following a disappointing end to the top-flight campaign for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
