Liverpool close to £22m Mario Gotze transfer – report

Liverpool are nearing a £22m deal to sign Mario Gotze, according to a Foot Mercato journalist

Liverpool have agreed a £22m deal to sign Bayern Munich forward Mario Gotze, according to a report from a French outlet.

The World Cup winner won his third successive Bundesliga winner’s medal since Gotze moved to Pep Guardiola’s side in 2013 from their bitter rivals Borussia Dortmund.

However, Gotze has been heavily linked with a reunion with his former Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp, who is currently in charge of Europa League runners-up Liverpool.

Bayern and Germany legend Franz Beckenbauer has already told Gotze to follow Klopp to Liverpool after a disappointing three-year spell at the Allianz Arena.

According to Foot Mercato’s Manu Lonjon, Liverpool are extremely close to a £28m deal to sign the Bayern forward.

Gotze has scored three goals and has moved four assists in 14 Bundesliga appearances for the German champions this season.
