New Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is understood to be keen to bolster his attacking options at Anfield as he prepares for his first full season in charge of the club.
Argentina international Higuain has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and the Napoli striker has regularly been touted as a target for Arsenal.
Now, however, the Daily Mirror is reporting that Higuain is keen to leave the Serie A side this summer and is open to joining Klopp’s Liverpool in the current transfer window.
Higuain has also been touted as a possible transfer target for Manchester United, and the striker has two years left to run on his contract with Napoli.
Klopp has been tasked with steering Liverpool to Champions League qualification next season.
