Liverpool have submitted a £20m offer for Bayern Munich forward Mario Gotze, according to RP Online.
The Germany international celebrated Bayern’s latest Bundesliga title triumph on Saturday evening amid ongoing speculation linking the forward with a move to Anfield.
The World Cup winner has endured a mixed three-year spell at Bayern since his controversial move to the Allianz Arena from Borussia Dortmund in a £30m deal in 2013.
German legend Franz Beckenbaeur urged Gotze to make the move to Liverpool to follow in Jurgen Klopp’s footsteps after playing under the 48-year-old at Westfalenstadion.
According to RP Online, the Reds have made a £20m offer for Gotze as Liverpool look to wrap up the deal ahead of the arrival of incoming Bayern manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Gotze has scored four goals and has made four assists in 13 Bundesliga starts for the German champions this season after falling out-of-favour under Pep Guardiola.
