Liverpool to face competition for Ivory Coast star after agent confirms Inter Milan interest

Inter Milan want Liverpool target Yaya Toure, according to the midfielder's agent

Liverpool are facing competition from Inter Milan to sign Yaya Toure in the summer transfer window, according to his agent.

The 18-time English champions have been linked with a surprise swoop for the veteran midfielder, with his brother Kolo Toure already at Anfield after making the switch from City to Liverpool.

Toure is expected to leave the Citizens ahead of the arrival of incoming manager Pep Guardiola after the Spanish coach sold the Ivorian to the Eastlands outfit in 2010.

According to Toure’s agent Dimitri Seluk, the 33-year-old is being chased by Serie A outfit Inter Milan ahead of a potential reunion with his former City manager Roberto Mancini.

“I know the Coach [Mancini] is crazy about Yaya and would like him at Inter,” Seluk told FCInterNews.

“That also applies to the player, who gets on very well with the Nerazzurri Coach. That said, I can’t say too much about his future right now. It’ll take 10 days for significant news.

“Questions should be addressed to Manchester City, because he’s a starter and he still has a contract until 2017.”

The Ivory Coast star scored six times in 29 Premier League appearances for the Citizens in Manuel Pellegrini’s final season in charge of the Lilywhites.

Toure has won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the League Cup twice since his move to the Etihad Stadium from Barcelona in 2010.
