Liverpool want £12m Southampton striker – report
Liverpool want to sign Republic of Ireland international Shane Long, according to Sunday Independent
Jurgen Klopp is thought to be keen on signing Southampton striker Shane Long to improve his Liverpool side this summer, according to the Sunday Independent.
The Republic of Ireland international enjoyed a brilliant campaign for the Saints after he scored 13 times in 32 Premier League games for Ronald Koeman’s sixth-placed side.
The 29-year-old firmly established himself as the Dutchman’s first-choice striker thanks to his high-energy approach, heading ability and never-say-die attitude.
According to Sunday Independent, Liverpool manager Klopp views Long as a perfect signing to enhance his Liverpool side ahead of his first full season in charge at Anfield.
However, the Irish paper has claimed that Premier League champions Leicester City are also keen on the former Hull City and Reading striker.
Klopp currently has Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi, Danny Ings and Christian Benteke at his disposal, although £32.5m signing has been linked with a move to West Ham United after a difficult first season at Anfield.
