Man United lead the race to sign want-away £50m Real Madrid superstar – report

James Rodriguez is keen to swap Real Madrid for Manchester United this summer, says an ESPN report

James Rodriguez is desperate to leave Real Madrid and join Manchester United in the summer transfer window, according to reports.

The Colombia international has struggled to live up to his £62m (€80m) price tag during two seasons at The Bernabeu following his big-money move to Madrid from AS Monaco in 2014.

James started just 17 La Liga games under Zinedine Zidane and his predecessor Rafael Benitez in a disappointing season for the reported Manchester United target.

The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a swoop for the South American at the end of the season as United attempt to inject some flair into their side.

According to ESPN, the 24-year-old has his heart set on a switch to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window as he looks to end a difficult spell at Madrid.

James scored seven times and made eight assists in 26 La Liga appearances for Los Blancos last season.
