Man United prepare to raid Sporting Lisbon for £65m duo – report

Man United are scouting Sporting Lisbon pair William Carvalho and Joao Mario ahead of summer transfer window, say Daily Mirror

Manchester United have been scouting Sporting Lisbon pair William Carvalho and Joao Mario ahead of a potential £65m double swoop, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Red Devils missed out on a top-four finish this season after Manchester City secured the final Champions League qualifying spot thanks to a 1-1 draw with Swansea City on Sunday afternoon.

The 20-time English champions were beaten to exciting Benfica prospect Renato Sanches last week after the Portuguese teenager joined Bundesliga holders Bayern Munich.

According to the Daily Mirror, United sent scouts to watch Carvalho and Maria in Sporting’s 4-0 victory over Braga at the weekend.

Joao Mario has scored six times in 33 appearances in Liga Sagres for Sporting over the course of the 2015/16 season.

Carvalho, who has been linked with Arsenal in the past, ha netted twice in 28 top-flight games for Sporting.
