Man United star sends positive message to Arsenal striker after injury setback

Ashley Welbeck posts Twitter message for his former Manchester United team-mate Danny Welbeck

Ashley Young reassured Danny Welbeck that he will come back stronger after the Arsenal striker was ruled out for nine months on Wednesday afternoon.

Welbeck incurred his latest knee injury during Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City in the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The England star attempted to run off the injury before the ex-United man was replaced by Jack Wilshere, who has only just returned from a long injury lay-off.

The 24-year-old has since undergone an operation on his knee which has ruled Welbeck out of England’s European championship campaign this summer.

And Young, who was team-mates with Welbeck at Old Trafford for three years before the forward moved to Arsenal in 2014, sent a heartfelt Twitter message to the Gunners star after news of his injury setback was confirmed.

Welbeck has scored five times in 15 games in all competitions since his return from a different knee injury in February.
